It used to be the oldest military hospital of Romania operated in a 19th century building. It is located on a bastion of the Alba Iulia Citadel and it is transformed into the first museum of religious art in Romania. During the restoration of the building, following the archaeological research, they unearthed another 16th century building and parts of the 18th Legion Gemina Roman Fort. All these archaeological remains were preserved in situ and may be visited within the new museum.
